This graph shows the Profit & Loss for each side in 2007. This may be viewed as being unrepresentative due to it being a snapshot of a single season. The season by season analysis is in the sites for each individual club. Much of Hibs profit came from the sale of Scott Brown, and also from Cup success. The problems at Hearts are clear to see.

It is probably fair to say that, in the long run, most fans would not want their club to making either a profit or a loss. Ideally all the money a club brings in should be spent on improving the club. This may be through better players, or a better ground, or a youth acdemy.
